The Destruction Of Damascus &
The Judgment Of Egypt
Syria and Egypt are among the greatest enemies in the history of Israel. The children of Israel were slaves in Egypt but the nation of Israel was born when the Lord brought them out of Egypt. Throughout Biblical history, various Syrian and Egyptian kings oppressed Israel culminating in the Syrian Wars that took place between the Seleucid Empire and the Ptolemaic kings during the second and third centuries BC that put Jews in the cross-fire. Syria and Egypt were the major antagonists against Israel during the Six-Day War of 1967 and the Yom Kippur War of 1973. With this history, one would expect Syria and Egypt to place a major role in any future war against Israel; however, neither nation is clearly mentioned as a participant in the war of Psalm 83 (i.e.- the final Arab-Israeli War) or the invasion of Ezekiel 38-39. The reason for this is that Syria and Egypt will be under divine judgment at the time. The lessons below are a verse-by-verse study of the various scriptures related to the judgment of Damascus and the judgment of Egypt.
